Following a recommendation from Stephanie Rosenthal, the director of the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi Project, Deutsche Bank named Charmaine Poh, an artist from 2025, as the "Artist of the Year" for 2025. “Born in 1990, the Singaporean-Chinese artist and documentary filmmaker divides her time between Singapore and Berlin. In her work, she addresses memory politics, opacity, repair and the visibility and invisibility of queerness and femininity in Asia. Her work is also inspired by Eastern philosophy, media criticism and cyberfeminism." Since September 2025, Charmaine Poh has been showing her first institutional exhibition at the PalaisPopulaire in Berlin.

Charmaine Poh talks to Britta Färber, Head of Art and Culture at Deutsche Bank, about the series of six video stills created for her three-channel video work The Moon is Wet, which is on display at PalaisPopulaire until 23 February. The conversation focuses on various approaches to Charmaine Poh's complex work in terms of both content and aesthetics. Topics include Daoism, cyberfeminism, and the concept of 'inbetweeness', as exemplified in Poh's biography — a life lived between Singapore, Berlin, and soon, Florence.

Britta Färber and her team develop the content of Deutsche Bank's global art and culture programme. This includes the Deutsche Bank Collection and the Artist of the Year award, for which Färber has curated exhibitions with artists such as Koki Tanaka, Victor Man, Lu Yang, La Chola Poblete, and most recently, Charmaine Poh. These exhibitions can be seen at Deutsche Bank's Art and Culture Forum in Berlin, as well as in various museums across Europe. Britta Färber is also responsible for the artistic side of collaborations with the Frieze Art Fair in London, New York, Seoul, and Los Angeles. She plays a key role in shaping the Deutsche Bank Frieze Los Angeles Film Award and the Curatorial Fellowship in the United Kingdom.

Britta Färber (M.A.) is an art historian who gained professional experience at various cultural institutions and media outlets. She also worked as an editor for a Frankfurt city magazine and as a freelance art critic and art educator before joining Deutsche Bank.
