Heike Dempster in the article “10 up-and-coming art scenes in Munich you should know about” in Mucbook:
“Luisa Baldhuber conceives of light not merely as illumination, but as a material and psychological medium. Her installations, environments and glass objects navigate the space between physical reality, inner perception, digital imagery and posthuman ecologies.
In 2024/25, the Haus der Kunst presented her first institutional solo exhibition, ‘Afterglow’, whilst she was still studying at the Academy. In 2025, Baldhuber graduated as a master student of Peter Kogler. Her work has been honoured with the CeU Art Award, amongst other accolades; she was also a PS61 Studio Scholar.
“Munich is my home town; I grew up here, and although I have my points of friction with the city, I’ve nevertheless chosen to stay here for the time being,” says Baldhuber. And although she is at home here, she describes Munich as often being too “tidy, narrow-minded and well-behaved” and notes that there is a lack of affordable spaces for subculture.
Her art provides a counterpoint precisely in this regard. “I’m always interested in the interplay between inner reality and outer reality,” explains Baldhuber. She links her engagement with the Light and Space Movement to a contemporary question: “How does our perception influence the world – and how is this perception itself shaped by spaces, light and technology?”
