Munich gallery walk⎮tz⎮Münchner Merkur

Aug 04, 2023

von Katja Kraft

With her ludwig space, she wanted to create a gallery in which people from all walks of life could talk about art. About half a year later one can state: Dietlinde Behncke succeeded.

At her regular talks, the space is full, and there are lively discussions about the topics of our time. The works of art exhibited by Behncke in the ludwig space provide inspiration for this. It is currently the work of eight internationally renowned artists from a Berlin scholarship program. Lukas Liese, for example, who in "Cousin Maria (Screenshot)" captures in marble what others are trumpeting in the digital world. Cousin Maria, that's actually the artist's relative. Liese followed with interest what his cousin had posted on Facebook in the past few years. He etched many of their truly caustic sayings into marble tiles with acid. From election advertising for Trump to "Love Capitalism" hearts. A smart reminder of how naïvely we turn our insides out on the internet. But the world wide web does not forget. Carved in stone. (Until August 12 and then September 1/2, 2023, Ludwigstr. 7; Tue-Fri 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thu until 8 p.m., Sat 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. On August 6, 2023, Dietlinde Behncke invites you to Talk with US Consul General Timothy Liston at 7 p.m. in the gallery.)
