Devotion ⎮ Disappearance
10. 07. - 31. 08. 2026
The exhibition brings together various works across Charmaine Poh's practice, including works from the exhibition Make a travel deep of you inside, and don’t forget me to take exhibited at PalaisPopulaire in 2025 and upcoming at MUDEC Milan in September 2026, as part of the Deutsche Bank Artist of the Year prize. Ranging from videos and photographs to objects, "Devotion/Disappearance" delves into the way marginalised femme figures have navigated opacity while asserting their existence. The protagonists resist easy categorisation, spanning the mythic, historical and the digital, while rooting themselves in the rich contexts of Singapore and its regional diaspora.

Charmaine Poh
Charmaine Poh (born in Singapore in 1990, lives in Berlin) completed her bachelor's degree in International Relations, Communication and Media Studies at Tufts University in the USA in 2013 and her master's degree in Visual and Media Anthropology at the Free University of Berlin in 2019. Her work encompasses media, moving images and performance to deconstruct, question and capture ideas of agency, repair and the body across worlds. She draws on strategies of visibility, opacity, deviation and futurity, including through numerous performances, lectures and workshops.
Charmaine Poh has been exhibiting internationally since 2016, including at the the Singapore Art Museum, the Seoul Museum of Art, and the Venice Biennale ‘Foreigners Everywhere’, curated by Adriano Pedrosa (2024). As Deutsche Bank's ‘Artist of the Year 2025’, her works were on display in a solo exhibition at Deutsche Bank's PalaisPopulaire in Berlin (11 September 2025-23 February 2026) and will be on display in the same configuration at MUDEC, Milan, from 17 September-1 November 2026. Charmaine Poh was the first Singaporean to be awarded the prestigious Villa Romana Prize in 2026.
