Luisa Baldhuber (*1994)
The relationship between colour, space and light, and their influence on our perception of reality, is the main subject of Luisa Baldhuber’s art. Based on classical painting on canvas, she detaches colour surfaces from their two- dimensionality and links them to architecture or landscape in new ways. In so doing, Baldhuber not only attempts to break down spatial boundaries. Rather, she aims to sensitise our consciousness to the things we see and, on the basis of this, think we know. The results are independent spatial constructs that superimpose themselves over the original environment, allowing fictional and real dimensions to enter into reciprocal relationships with one another. Her first institutional solo exhibition Afterglow took place from 2024 to 2025 at Haus der Kunst Munich, a key global museum for contemporary arts, while Baldhuber was still studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. In 2025, she completed her studies in fine arts as a “Meisterschülerin” of Prof. Peter Kogler and participated in group exhibitions at Heldenreizer Contemporary, Behncke Gallery, 229 LAB Paris, Highlights International Art Fair Munich, Kunstarkaden Munich, and others. Baldhuber was awarded the CeU Art Award in 2025 and the Debutant Award of the Academy of Fine Arts in 2021. She was a recipient of the PS61 Studio Scholarship 2025 and has participated in several residency programs, including A-Z West / High Desert Test Sites in California, Rocking S Art Ranch in Arizona and G.Urban Platform in Armenia. In 2026, she will be exhibiting at Art Düsseldorf alongside artist Charmaine Poh for Behncke Gallery and at Various Others Munich. The artist has previously resided and worked/studied in Cape Town, Vienna, and Barcelona and currently works and lives in Munich.
