Lukas Liese in conversation about his - currently exhibited works - "Cousin Maria" from 2020, "Options" from 2021 and "Heat" from 2022. "Stone is my preferred material in my artistic work, because its presence in space, its geological properties and its art-historical and cultural-historical significance mean that it has the potential to build up an interaction between content and material in my work. I also work alongside "classic" tools of stone carving also with digital tools or chemicals. Both are used in my sculptures as well as in my reliefs, in which I etch the digitally created motifs into marble blocks and slabs using a process I developed I deal with a wide variety of social phenomena and try to reconcile them with the material and do justice to both."
