Behncke Gallery is pleased to announce the participation of Nnenna Okore in the Haus der Kunst Charity Auction “A Midsummer Night”, taking place on 22 June 2026 in Munich. The artist will be present for the event.
For the auction, Okore presents Light of Our Time II (2026), a sculptural work composed of cheesecloth, wire and dye. The work reflects the artist’s ongoing exploration of organic materials, transformation, and ecological interconnectedness, themes that have become central to her internationally acclaimed practice.
Born in Australia, raised in Nigeria, and based in Chicago, Nnenna Okore is recognized for her immersive installations and environmentally conscious artistic approach. Her work continues to shape global conversations on ecology, materiality, community, and sustainability. Recent projects include the major site-specific installation Between Earth and Sky at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, London, as well as significant public commissions in the United States.
Okore’s work has been exhibited internationally, including at the Museum of Art and Design, New York, the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporic Arts, New York, the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Bruges Triennial, the Chengdu International Biennial, and the Public Art Abu Dhabi Biennial.
The artist is represented by Behncke Gallery, Munich, October Gallery, London, and Jenkins Johnson Gallery, San Francisco.
