Have you wanted to start collecting art for a long time, but don't know how? Do you have questions such as: "How do I find my collection focus?" or "How do I get to know the right artists and gallery owners?" Then this Collector's Guide on the eve of the exhibition opening "Living on my own" is the best opportunity to get answers and find an introduction to collecting art.
Dietlinde Behncke, together with Hanna Marie Bruhn *) (Patron of Freunde Haus der Kunst, corporate art consultant and collector, until 2015 Manager Corporate Art - Vattenfall Art Collection Berlin and 2005 publication of the first empirical study on "Corporate Collections - Art as a Communication Tool in Companies") Dr Franziska Thiess (expert for contemporary art at Ketterer Kunst, board member of Freunde Haus der Kunst) and the three young "emerging artists" Aneta Kajzer, Fritz Poppenberg and Marta Vovk, will be available in her gallery to answer all your questions about collecting.
6 pm start with a welcome drink, discussion round and preview of the exhibition. A seated dinner will then follow at around 8pm, where the topics can be explored in greater depth in direct dialogue with the experts and artists.
Connect with artists and collectors to explore the essential aspects of art collection, including starting strategies, engaging with artists, building networks and curatorial perspectives.
The group exhibition "Living on my own", which opens the following day, revolves around the perception of our identity, which is constantly being challenged by new types of media and artificial intelligence. Below you can get a brief insight into the work of the four international artists living in Berlin (Zohar Fraiman in addition to the three mentioned).
*) Dr Franziska Thiess (expert for contemporary art at Ketterer Kunst, board member of Freunde Haus der Kunst) is unfortunately ill.
The Artist Dinner is curated by Verena Holthaus, founder of salon c/o, a concept store for modern tableware from various stylistic eras in dialogue with contemporary art in Werneckstrasse, Munich.
