Caio Marcolini (born 1985 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Lives and works in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) is a sculptor with a degree in industrial design from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (2012), training as a goldsmith at SENAI (Rio de Janeiro, 2007) and a degree in fine art from the ‘Parque Lage’ Academy of Fine Arts in Rio de Janeiro.
His artistic practice is closely intertwined with his craftsmanship and his background in the fields of goldsmithing, fine art and industrial design. Caio Marcolini’s practice blurs the boundaries between these different fields by shifting his work across these discursive spaces. His exploration moves between the material and the ethereal, focusing on the creation of objects with metal wire structures, conceived using tools developed by the artist himself. His work is driven by the gesture of movement: the idea transitions into the creation of the object – a malleable network of infinite connections – which takes shape and reconstructs itself to the extent permitted by the creator’s intention.
He has participated in group exhibitions such as "Hearts On Fire" (A
Homem Mau – Portugal, 2023); "|fɛmɪnɪn|" (Gallery Nosco – Belgium,
2023); "Summer Exhibition 2022" (Chrysalid Gallery – Netherlands,
2022); "Viva Brasil!" (Colégio das Artes, University of Coimbra –
Portugal, 2022); "Pedágio de Mim - Foco Brasil" (Not a Museum –
Portugal, 2021); "Reality Check: Life After Retirement" (Espaço
Espelho d'Água – Portugal, 2020); "O que deixou a florescer"
(Galeria Sete – Portugal, 2020); "Ases & Trunfos" (Galeria Sete –
Portugal, 2018); and "Rio Sculpture Festival – Third Edition" (Centro
Cultural dos Correios – Rio de Janeiro, 2017). “42nd SARP – Ribeirão
Preto Art Salon” (São Paulo, 2017); “45th Luiz Sacilotto
Contemporary Art Salon” (Santo André, São Paulo, 2017); “5th SOAL
– Latin American Autumn Salon” (Latin America Memorial – São
Paulo, 2017); and “Através da Trama,” curated by Marcus Lontra
